The Araucana :

The Araucana comes from South America and used to be considered a rare breed but this has changed in recent years. They come in a ‘rumpless’ variety in the Netherlands but the rumpless ones are not really popular elsewhere, the tailed version is preferred.
These birds have a very distinctive feature that tells them apart from most other breeds; where you would normally find ear lobes on your other hens, on the Araucana you will find ‘ear tufts’ instead making them look as though they have thick necks all the way up to their head. These birds do fine in a run or a free range environment and are considered hardy birds. This breed is also commonly called the Easter Egg Chicken due to its egg colours that can range from blue to green which is where the Cream Legbar gets its egg colour from
