The Brown Leghorn was the ‘mother’ bird used to create the Gold Legbar and this is where the bird gets it’s characteristics from. There are variants to this breed depending on what country the stock is from but here in the UK the Leghorns tend to have large combs and wattles and are known for laying copious amounts of eggs. They should have white earlobes and yellow legs and they are not known for going broody and are not the easiest of fowl to tame but are quick on their feet and fast growers
